Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of our vision of democratising the manufacturing industry. Our 3D printing solutions enhance your cost and resource efficiency, whilst minimising your environmental impact.

Plastic Offsetting

Plastic Bank

  • Additive-X is a proud supporter of the Plastic Bank initiative. Through this partnership, for every kilogram of plastic filament we sell, Plastic Bank prevents an equivalent amount of plastic waste from polluting our oceans.

  • With our dedication to environmental stewardship, our partnership means that we can make a tangible difference in the fight against plastic waste in our oceans. Through this collaboration with Plastic Bank, we actively contribute to the preservation of marine ecosystems.

  • Our commitment to sustainability ensures that 3D printing, contrary to common perceptions, can be an environmentally responsible choice. Join us in our efforts to promote a greener future through additive manufacturing.

Minimising Our Carbon Footprint

Promoting environmental stewardship through carbon offsetting

  • To achieve our goal of carbon neutrality, we have partnered with Carbon Footprint™, a leading organization in carbon offsetting initiatives. Through this collaboration, we actively participate in programs that work towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting local communities worldwide. By investing in a range of impactful projects, we strive to make a positive difference in the fight against climate change.

  • Working with Carbon Footprintallows us to contribute to programmes that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and care for communities across the world – be it methane recovery in Brazil, or reforestation projects right here in the UK. By planting trees and restoring natural habitats, we actively contribute to carbon sequestration, enhancing biodiversity, and creating sustainable ecosystems. These projects also provide numerous additional environmental benefits, such as improving air quality and preserving natural resources.

  • In 2022 alone, our efforts led to the offsetting of 64 tonnes of carbon emissions. This achievement demonstrates our commitment to making a tangible difference towards climate preservation.

What else are we doing to be more sustainable?

Our Mission: Pioneering sustainable production with additive manufacturing, by promoting resource efficiency and waste reduction.

  • Manufacturing by building up layers of material generates less waste than traditional manufacturing processes.
  • Reducing supply chain complexity.
  • Additive manufacturing reduces the environmental impact of a traditional supply-chain with parts being shipped across the world.

The SME Climate Commitment

  • As part of our dedication to addressing climate change, we’ve signed up to the SME Climate Commitment programme. This is a pledge to, among other things, aim for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, regularly measure and report greenhouse gas emissions, and collaborate with supply chains, customers, and partners to drive collective climate action.
We Choose to Re-Use
  • We actively re-use materials to minimise waste. For example, we shred and re-use 15 tonnes of cardboard as packaging material for our shipments. Our workspaces are furnished with desks made from reclaimed wood and up-cycled workbenches.

  • We work on desks made from reclaimed wood and up-cycled workbenches.

Making our HQ more energy-efficient!

  • We’ve also installed eco-friendly LED lighting throughout our building.
  • This has led to a recent annual saving of 49,343 kWh of electricity. That’s the equivalent of 11.5 tonnes of CO2 prevented from being produced!

Using Electric Vehicles

  • With zero exhaust emissions, electric vehicles contribute to cleaner air quality and help combat climate change.
  • This is why Additive-X are committed to converting our fleet of cars to electric vehicles.

Recycling in Numbers

  • In just one year, Additive-X has made a significant contribution to recycling, diverting a total of 12 tonnes of waste from landfill.
  • Through our dedicated efforts, we’ve managed to process:
  • 7 tonnes of mixed WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) through responsible offsite recycling
  • 3 tonnes of paper, promoting a paperless environment and reducing our ecological footprint
  • 2 tonnes of mixed plastics, helping to tackle plastic waste and protect our planet.
  • These impressive numbers reflect our steadfast commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.

What are our future plans?

    Solar Panel Integration

  • We are exploring the installation of solar panels at our facilities. By harnessing the power of the sun, we aim to generate clean, renewable energy to further offset our electricity consumption.

    Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

  • As part of our sustainable transportation strategy, we plan to install more electric vehicle (EV) chargers at our premises. By providing convenient charging solutions, we encourage the adoption of electric vehicles among our employees and stakeholders. This initiative will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions associated with conventional transportation methods.

    Waste Management Optimization

  • We are focussed on further enhancing our waste management practices. Through improved sorting and recycling systems, we aim to divert more waste from landfill, thereby increasing circularity.
