This enhanced material retains the same metal powder composition as version 1, but introduces a new binder formula, resulting in a more robust and flexible filament. This upgrade streamlines material handling boosts print success rates, and yields stronger and more versatile parts.

The great news is that adopting D2 Tool Steel v2 doesn't necessitate any hardware upgrades. It seamlessly integrates with the Metal X (Gen 1), Metal X (Gen 2), Wash-1, Sinter-1, and Sinter-2, ensuring compatibility across various systems.

D2 Tool Steel, a high carbon and high chromium air-hardening tool steel, offers exceptional heat treatability, resulting in high hardness and impressive compressive strength. It is known for its outstanding wear resistance and is commonly used in various cold work applications that require sharp edges, resistance to abrasion, and compressive strength. Markforged D2 Tool Steel meets the chemical requirements specified in ASTM A681, ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.

What are the benefits of D2 V2?

Easy to Handle: D2 Tool Steel v2 is a flexible filament, made possible by the new binding material. The filament is easy to handle at room temperature, easy to store, and far less fragile than v1 filament.
Faster to Load: D2 Tool Steel v2 can be loaded in an unheated chamber, reducing startup and material changeover time significantly.
Larger Spools: D2 Tool Steel v2 spools contain 400cc of material, twice as much as v1. Two times fewer material changeovers and two times larger prints without having to change material.
Material Properties: D2 Tool Steel v2 material properties are slightly higher than v1 material properties

Order by 4:45pm Monday to Friday and Additive-X will ship your order via DPD the same day, with multiple options available. DPD Pre 12 and Pre 10.30 are available depending on your postcode.

Some units must ship on a pallet due to weight and/or size, in which case delivery service is 1-2 days and the cut-off time is earlier.
