Dentistry
3D printing has all but eliminated the need to make dental models by hand and intraoral scanners have removed the need for taking physical moulds entirely. Moulds can be taken digitally, manipulated as necessary on-screen and then printed. This also leads on to devices such as retainers, splints and surgical guides - all of which can be created from the digital model provided and then printed for direct use by the patient.
