Bambu Lab Smooth PEI Plate for X1 & P1 Series and A1
Using a Smooth PEI Plate improves Z-axis precision while printing, ensuring better accuracy and consistency in the vertical dimension. This makes it a great choice for printing parts that need a high level of accuracy in fit, where precise alignment and tight tolerances are important.
Incorporating a carefully chosen matte PEI sheet can give the bottom surface of the printed object a smooth and matte texture, improving its overall appearance.
PEI facilitates printing with a wide range of materials including PLA, TPU, PETG, and PVA. Note: When using filaments other than PLA, apply liquid glue or a glue stick to prevent tearing of the sheet.
Considerations:
- Please note that with the Smooth PEI Plate on the A1 there is a higher risk the plate curling from the corners, or the printed models to detach from the plate. This is caused by the thicker Smooth PEI applied to the plate, which will increase the distance from the bed magnets and lower the magnetic attraction.
- If bubbles appear on the bottom of the sheet, heating it on the heatbed at a temperature of no less than 80 degrees for several hours can help eliminate them.
- Deposition of dust and grease on the build plate decreases adhesion. Regularly clean the surface with detergent and water to maintain optimal adhesion.
- Avoid cleaning the Smooth PEI with Acetone, as it can damage the PEI surface.
- Wait for a few minutes before removing printed models to allow the plate to cool down for easy print removal, preventing damage and ensuring a long product lifetime.
- Carefully sanding the surface with fine-grit (600 recommended) sandpaper can help restore adhesion.
- The Smooth PEI plate is considered a consumable part that will degrade over time. The warranty covers manufacturing defects only, not cosmetic damage like scratches, dents, or cracks. Defective sheets upon arrival are the only ones covered by the warranty.
Step 1: Align the plate with the fixed points of the platform with the name of the plate facing you
Step 2: Lower the plate and secure to the magnetic platform

Order by 4.45pm Monday to Friday (excl Bank Holidays) and Additive-X will ship your order via DPD the same day. DPD will deliver on working days only.
Depending on your postcode your options at checkout will include DPD NEXT DAY, DPD 12:00 and DPD 10:30 options. Some postcodes will show "DPD TWO DAY".
Shipping to Ireland (Northern or Republic of) is a “DAP” service which means you have to pay any Duty and Taxes. Business customers must email us their EORI and UKIMS numbers.
PALLETS DON'T SHIP VIA DPD - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Some units can only be shipped safely on a pallet due to weight and/or size. Cut off time for orders shipping by pallet is 1.30pm, that’s because we need to book the job before 2pm.
Pallets are big and they ship on big lorries! If there is any problem with a dustbin-lorry size vehicle accessing your property, you need to let us know and we can request delivery by a smaller 7.5T lorry. If this is the case, then PALLET NEXT DAY may not be available.
Depending on your postcode your options at checkout will include PALLET NEXT DAY, PALLET 2-3 DAYS, PALLET COLLECTION HG4 2RN (organise your own pick-up). Some postcodes will show “PALLET 5-6 DAYS” etc.
Pallet deliveries are between 09.00 and 17.00 and we are unable to give you the ETA in advance.
We use a very reliable local supplier, and the pallets go in to the “Palletforce” network. Currently the network don’t use tracking numbers and you can't track online (coming in 2026). Call or email us to check on a delivery or collection.
